Dominican with Duane Wilson Jr. and Diamond Stone play tonight at around 8:15 in the Division 4 semi's in the Kohl Center and will be on statewide TV. Not sure if it will be streamed.

Steve Taylor and Kendrick Nunn's Simeon team will take on Bloom at 8:15 Friday evening in Peoria. There's an IHSATV link on the ihsa.com site, but not sure if it's a free stream.

The trivia question: 2 men's basketball players at Marquette attended Bloom Township High School. One was Joe Chapman. Who was the other?

Good answer. He attended Bloom for a time, but graduated from Mt. Carmel.

Lloyd Walton almost led to Earl Tatum transferring out.

Earl is a quiet guy, but when he starts talking, he tells some great stories. At the time, Earl was new and sitting behind Frazier. Earl felt he was a guard, and didn't think he would every play. They had a game in New York, and Earl wasn't playing as usual. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees his uncle stumbling down the stairway. "Oh, God NO!", thought Earl. Security doesn't stop him, and he stumbles all the way to the bench, in the middle of the game, and taps AL on the shoulder. Al turns around and Earl's uncle says, "You need points - you needs to play Earl." Al responded that Earl was young, and that he would get his chance. As the uncle turned around to head back up the stairs, you could see the whiskey bottle hanging out of his back pocket. Earl wanted to die, and thought Al would kick him out.

Not long after that, Earl is eating lunch and one of the coaches walked through on a tour with a recruit. Earl saw them and said to himself, "THAT'S LLOYD WALTON - I'M NEVER GONNA GET TO PLAY AT THIS SCHOOL!" So Earl thought he should leave, but was talked into staying and the rest is history.

First time I'd seen Duane Wilson Jr. and all I'll say is that if he ends up picking Marquette, it will be a very good fit on the floor. Very, very quick who stays ahead of man on defense, has the ability to hit the midrange and perimeter jumper, advances the ball well and keeps his head up on offense and hits the open man in the halfcourt as well as on the break.

Diamond Stone is going to be a top 10-15 recruit in his class and Sam Dekker was outstanding earlier for Sheboygan Lutheran.

I think it would be great to land Wilson and start a nice stead stream of area talent coming to MU for the next few years.

2013 - Wilson and Burton
2014 - Looney
2015 - Stone
