Did anybody notice these names in the list?

Chris Perez, 6-3, G, Jr., Stetson -- Canisius, Marquette

Sheldon McClellan, 6-4, G, Soph., Texas -- Marquette, Oregon, Ill, Fresno, Miami

Jaylen Bond, 6-7, F, Soph., Texas - Temple, Penn St., Tenn, St. Joe's, Marquette, Seton Hall

I've never seen Perez or Bond mentioned as being on MU's radar, though maybe I missed them before. Anybody know anything about these two?

I looked up both. Perez averaged 15.1 ppg at Stetson, but he doesn't seem to be a good perimeter shooter (31%)

As for Bond - only 11.1 mpg on a pretty weak team.

By the way, Winters is also listed. He wasn't on the list the last time it was published.

One intriguing name on there...Zach Peters from Kansas via Texas AAU who left mid-year due to a series of concussions...6'9" PF. Some serious stuff just like with TJ Taylor, though.

Bond is a nice player (had injury issues last year), but is headed to Temple. Perez would be immediately eligible, and looks to be the attacking type guard Buzz loves (hit 53% of his twos last year, and 51% as a soph). I think at this point though Winters is pretty close to a lock to end up here.

Well of course the coaches are going to feel this way.

But what about the student? I have a tough time believing that someone like Lockett shouldn't be able to leave once he gets his undergrad degree and has an additional year remaining.

I personally believe that every player should be allowed one transfer without sitting out a year during their career - and that each subsequent transfer requires a year to sit with no exceptions.

I'm sure the players don't like coaches leaving for other jobs either. Woe is me.

Bingo.

Seriously, I have absolutely no issue with this "problem" with transfers. If a kid doesn't want to be where he is, he should be able to leave without penalty. And I would feel the same with Winters transferring here as I would if Davante wanted to go to Kansas.

I agree on principal, but wouldn't that increase the illicit recruiting going on for guys already on rosters and with the rate of frosh already leaving knowing they have to sit a year, things could get pretty crazy. They may think things are OK until someone gets in their ear and tells them the grass is greener elsewhere. I wouldn't mind having coaches to sit a year if they decide to leave while under contract however.

+1

I would tighten it up, both ways, rather than loosen it up. I do think it could lead to more tampering and dirty recruitment of a kid already in school. I would make an exception to the year in residence rule if a coach left, but I would not allow the player to follow the coach.
