MILWAUKEE - Nearly 2,700 tickets have already been sold to watch Marquette men's lacrosse team's final home contest of the 2013 regular season on Sunday, May 5, when the Golden Eagles host No. 6/8 Duke. Faceoff against the former national champion Blue Devils is set for noon Central time (1 p.m. ET) at Hart Park in Wauwatosa, Wis.

Tickets cost $5 for adults ($3 youth) and can be purchased at the gate beginning one hour before faceoff. Tickets can also be purchased in advance by calling the Marquette Ticket Office at (414) 288-GOMU (4668), or online at GoMarquette.com/tickets.

The game will be televised live by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel Wisconsin with Matt Menzl (play-by-play) and Jeff Roberts (analyst) on the call. A live Internet stream will also be provided free of charge, in addition to live stats, courtesy of Gametracker, on GoMarquette.com.

Sunday's matinee will conclude Marquette's (5-7) inaugural campaign of NCAA Division I competition and marks the fifth game this season the Golden Eagles will face a top-20 opponent.

"We've got to play good, solid defense, and we've got to be confident and disciplined on the offensive end," said MU head coach Joe Amplo. "When we are confident and disciplined, we can score against the best teams in the country. The biggest thing is we've got to play together. When we play together, and that's true in any sport, you're going to be in most lacrosse games."

MU had its season-long three-game win streak snapped last time out in the form of a 15-10 defeat at No. 20 St. John's. The Golden Eagles notched a 14-9 win over Detroit (April 20) in the program's first-ever home game back on April 20.

Duke, which is 3-2 in road contests this season, had held the nation's longest active winning streak with nine consecutive victories before falling to North Carolina, 18-17, in the ACC semifinals in its last contest on April 26.

"This is everything these kids came here for, on the last day of your season, in front of a big crowd, at home, to play one of the best teams in the country and challenge yourself to see where you are," Amplo said about his team. "What a great opportunity for us... It's Marquette Lacrosse's final exam on Sunday afternoon at 12 to see all the work these guys have put in, to see how we do in the biggest test of our season."

I love seeing the support. These kids are playing very well of late. Picture a basketball team with all freshmen and sophomores (academically) and knowing that they will be around for 4 years. Great things ahead for MU LAX with some more time under both Coach Amplo & Coach Smith. While it would be a huge upset, I would not be at all shocked to see us pull out a 'W' in this one.

Lance Allen of TMJ4 did a nice story on the MU-Duke game this Sunday. For people who can't go the game it's on channel 32. (TW Sportschannel)
