Here's a fun pool: let's all guess how long it takes Amanda Braun to change @AmandaBraunNU.

Odds are it changes to: @AmandaBraunUWM-95%; @AmandaBraunMKE-4%; @ChadKnodl-1%

March 4th - 10-1
March 5-12th - 6-1
March 13-31st - 5-1
April 1-15th - 4-1
April 16-30th - 3-1
May 1st - 2-1
After May 1st - Even Money

Also, we're going to make a pool. No one tweet at Amanda to change her SN, starting now. You can pick any date on which you think she'll change her Twitter Handle. The only rule is you cannot convince her to change it in any way. I'll ask her, too. Winner gets a free six months of Premium membership.

May 1st, not a day before. I will petition Twitter for verification before I'd let her have @ChadKnodl! Haha

So what did it end up being. Just saw a tweet from her and it was changed to UWM. Kinda wish it was MKE but oh well.

She probably chose UWM because it shows her as someone attached to the university and not just some random girl named Amanda who lives in Milwaukee.

MKE can work in contexts where its taken for granted that it refers to a college sports team (i.e. the Panthers twitter handle), but the university is just one of many institutions in the city that's referred to as Milwaukee/MKE. This is why the University of Milwaukee re-brand needs to happen. Then we don't have to refer to the university (U of M?, U-Mil?) in a different way than we do our sports teams.

As much as I think UofM is the most fluid choice, it could refer to a ton of schools. I really like the UMil idea but I would need to see a great branding presententation to fully get behind it. It is themost unique but it would need some good marketing to make sure people know who to think of when they hear/see it. Because even though Milwaukee is the biggest city that starts with Mil ,i don't think it will be an automaticly understood as milwaukee by people unfimilair with the school.

PS do u have any concept stuff for UMil. I am somewhat partual to the idea of the U being one color while the Mil is another and having only the M capitalized but i am not sure what the best way to make that work is. Maybe a slightly arched text look? I am sure you have lots of ideas. Lol.

I did do this a few years back when the first real push to re-brand as the U of Milwaukee began. Unfortunately, we were undercut by the SA (shocking, I know) who used seg fees to purchase a bunch of Wisconsin State paraphernalia weeks in advance before it even went on the ballot (using fees to promote something already on the ballot is illegal, so we weren't allowed to do it).
