This place is up for grabs - huge crowd and very load.

Junior is pumped. When the team came onto the court, he went down the line on the other side shaking hands with those in the front row. When he was introduced in the starting lineup, instead of running to the teammates, he went to half court waiving his arms pumping up the crowd.

Student section - When Buzz came in they went absolutely nuts.

This is an incredible environment!!

Hess doing the game today, and shaw? Can't tell, didn't get here early enough to spy it out.

Seniors start it off - Cadougan to Lockett to Otule and in.

Not that it matters, but from a distance they look good, but up close ND has about the ugliest shorts I have seen. (Sans the new Adidas stuff)

Buzz has his gold sport coat off already.

Brey's teams don't quit. Mu needs all 40 minutes of effort today.

At the 11:04 mark, MU up 22-11. MU already has 7 assists. I count about 9 empty seats in the upper deck.

Wow - brey calls another TO - one full TO left for the game.

Junior Cadougan leading all scorers with 7.

IWB, in case you didn't know, the announcers said Cooley was in the infirmary last night and may be suffering from the flu. As I person who currently has the flu I cannot begin to tell you how draining this strain of flu can be (and I had a flu shot this year!).

IWB
03-02-2013, 01:50 PM
At the 3:49 mark, MU up 37-21. Otule leads with 8,ND still leads on the glass 14-11

Brey called his last time out with 10 seconds left before media timeout, this last one with 45 seconds left before a media timeout.

Senior student Jim Love constantly yelling at Brey, "Hey Mike Brey - How many timeouts do you have left?" To say the turtleneck sheriff is flustered is an understatement.

For the second half, we need to get Vander going again. He's been silent lately. Also, on defense, no open 3 looks for the Irish. That's way they can get back into it.

Get the crowd back into it like the beginning of the game, too.

IWB
03-02-2013, 02:15 PM
In the first half there were three times where Vander drove to the hole, got absolutely hammered, with no calls. I think that had an affect.

Otule had a huge left handed hook shot. Really hope he stays if MU can get a full year of this type of play.

Team is much better now at knowing the type of pass Otule can handle; unlike the beginning of the year.

Thank God for Jamil this half. He is keeping the distance between MU and ND at 12-15.

Knight throws Mayo to the floor then comes in for the putback. Right in front of me, but also right in front of referee Jeff Clark - he has let a lot of blatant stuff go down in this corner of the court both halves. Not a fan of this guy, can't remember if I have seen him before.

I would put both Otule and Gardner in together right now. With Cooley not playing, we'd kill them down low.

IWB
03-02-2013, 02:39 PM
Otule saw that play coming the whole way and set up shop. No way that is a block.

Also, how hard does someone have to push to throw Gardner to the ground? Yet, no call.

That's not what Mike Patrick said, IWB. He said the refs got the call right. geez.

It was a block on Otule (I have the advantage of seeing it on replay jim :))

The big lineup worked against cuse and for a period of time against ND, but it's gone stagnant. Need to change it up buzz.

No way, right in front of me, I noticed when Chris saw the play, and watched him the whole way.

At the 7:30 mark, MU up 56-46.

Chris was still moving and turning his body to get in position----we'll agree to disagree :) Come on boys, take care of the ball, play some defense and we should win this game.

Buzz calls two TO's to set up the standing O for Junior & Trent. Brey gave Buzz the go ahead - class move all the way around.

Final score MU 72, Notre Dame 64.

I know he's technically not a senior, but does this mean Chris will be back next year?? Sure hope so. Just gives us another dimension that we won't replicate easily next year without him

for those of us out of staters how was the post game senior appreciation moments? so proud of those guys. Love junior...enough said. Trent really found himself and has been a great addition. Chris...not sure if I should say anything yet or not:).

I thought Chris took part in Senior Day last year because he was technically a senior, at least in an academic sense.

Thank God for Jamil this half. He is keeping the distance between MU and ND at 12-15.Unfortunately, the guys kept making late passes to Davante or passes at his feet. Despite just 5 points due to that, he still had a very nice games. Really enjoyed today at the BC. Good crowd.

IWB, its Sam "Logwood" from Lalumierre. He is a fast rising 2014 6'6 SF who unofficially visited Michigan State for their game with Michigan on2/19.

Really a nice ceremony. Trent was very emotional in thanking Buzz and his teammates for accepting him into the MU family. Actually broke down and all the fellas came to his aid and mobbed him, wiping away his tears. Showed just how close these guys are and for those that questioned Trent's contributions- showed what a valuable asset he has been, whether on the court or off. If you didn't have a tear in your eye after Trent spoke, you never will. Class act all the way. Junior wasn't quite as emotional, but did a great job thanking everyone in the program. Buzz thanked the fans- said they don't win 25 in a row without us. Told the players and managers, individually, that he loved them. All in all, one of the better ceremonies I have seen based on it showing how close these guys are.

I thought this was the most touching and best Senior Night. The speech by Trent, how he broke down, the team running to surround and hug him. Really shows how close this team is.

I also love how Buzz steps away and keeps the spotlight on the guys. He did come up and hug Trent and then Junior, but made sure to not take the spotlight away from them. Buzz is class all the way.

To the question about Chris, no he did not take part last year. He said earlier that since he has not decided if he is returning right now, that he would not take part in the ceremony. His absence does not mean anything at this time.

And Jim, I agree about Chris coming back. He really seems to have gotten the legs back from the injury. It took awhile, but that would be expected. He is playing at a high level right now. He and Devante next year could be lethal.

If you sit back and think, Marquette hasn't lost a Big East home game for two season's. If someone would've said that back in 2005, most would think you are nuts.
