Just lost to a 3-7 mid major that only dressed 8 players.

And it looked like our guys just walked off the court without shaking hands. What's up with that?

MU just not a very good team. They really haven't played well all year...even in the UW game.

Teams that slow it down and play zone will beat us all year.

And that will continue to happen to MU the rest of the year until someone steps up and becomes the true leader of this team, it can't be Vander one game, Wilson the next, cadougan after that.....and getting may back to shoot will be a huge upgrade to jake thomas

Agreed, this year is just going to be a struggle. We have played a few good teams and lost, now have lost to a real bad team, and we have struggled with most cupcakes only to run away late.

Now it's not all doom and gloom for this team, we play really good defense and we just need more consistency on offense. Unfortunately so far I haven't seen much progression on the offensive side.

DePaul was worse. Losing to Louisville after the 17-point lead was worse. We'll be okay. This was Green Bay's Super Bowl. They're a better team than they've shown previously. Maybe if one of the 872 hacks at Gardner had been called a foul we'd have at least tied the game and put it into OT. Keifer Sykes shoots nearly twice as many FTs as our team?

We'll be fine. This is a team that will be much better in March than they are right now. We'll still make the tournament no matter all the naysayers that will come out of the woodwork after tonight.

I am not coming out of the woodwork but as it stands right now we have one bad loss and no good wins in our non conference. Wisconsin won't get to RPI top 50 before year end and UWGB is 3-7 and the horizon league will keep them from getting to not a bad loss... I think saying this team is a tournament team is a stretch right now. There needs to be progress soon, we aren't a total lost cause and we still have a realistic shot, but it's going to be an uphill battle for sure.

This team has NO true leader and no deep threat to keep the zone at bay.....jamil Wilson has been mr. Inconsistent, 14 in the first half and practically a non factor in the second half.... We need mayo back and jamil to take over this team and be aggressive on offense. Trent needs to be the 3rd or 4th option off the bench

Unless this team stops turning the ball over at an alarming rate and finds some decent perimeter shooting I think you are going to be wrong.

We might sneak into the tournament but I don't see us being much better in March then we are now.

Zones will kill us all year.

This game is Norfolk State last year. The difference is we were on the road instead of a neutral site. Green Bay generally plays man defense. Wardle surprised Buzz with the zone and it bit us in the ass. I'm sure we've been practicing for man all week. It's the same thing NSU did in the second game last year. I think if LSU tries to zone us Saturday we will destroy them.

Like last year? I think you're nuts.

I'm with Markedman. This team has huge issues.

That game was a lot earlier in the year (Game 5). I'm sorry but even if a team surprises you with a zone in late December, you should be able to compensate.

Gotta agree, this is a rebuilding year for us, we aren't out of the tournament but we need to start showing improvement fast if we don't want to be left out.

I'll let everyone else panic. UWGB is better than we thought. We let them dictate the tempo of the game. And we took a bad loss. It happens. We'll be fine.

Markedman

If they are better than we thought then why haven't they beaten anyone else?

They played without their 2nd leading scorer.

Norfolk State last year was a much better team then the team we just lost to as they showed by beating Missouri in the tourny.

TheSultan

Yeah, I'm not sure how you can say UWGB is that good. They have beaten Chicago State, Southern Utah and North Dakota State coming into this game...and lost to the likes of Fullerton, Idaho and Tennessee Tech.

I'm disappointed, but there's nothing more predictable than fans overreacting to game results, good or bad. It's just one game.

It's not the one game.....it's how we have played all year. I think our best game was probably agaainst Butler. Even the UW game was not well played by either team.

All you have to do is watch the team play........

All you have to do is watch the team play........for such a 'bad' team , we were a respectable 38 in Pomeroy entering the game tonight. That will assuredly drop, but are we just relying on the eye test here?

Markedman

Pomeroy is still using data from last year at this point in the season.

I never said were were a bad team....I said we just weren't a very good team. Mediocre....slighly above average...bubble team.....

That is how we have played so far IMO.

I hope we get better but I just look at this team and think we are going to struggle to score all year against anyone who plays zome against us.

Hope I'm wrong.

What we are now and what we will be in March, in my opinion, will be radically different. Similar to the Lazar and the Midgets team.

Here is a sort of radical thought. A lot of Mayo's potential minutes need to come from Chris Otule. Big Chris does not have the wheels he used to and this team needs to go smaller. I think Buzz's teams play the best with as many guards and wings out on court as possible.

Markedman

there is no Lazar on this team.

ok I think we have beaten this to death......I hope you are right and I'm wrong. :D

I liked what we saw when Buzz went to three guards tonight, with DW, Junior, and Vander on the perimeter, Trent on the wing, and Jamil in the post. I think what killed us as much as anything was Davante's presence in the second half. Green Bay was getting away with hacking him. We needed to put more speed in there and stop feeding the damn post. For the most part, DG was a black hole in this game. When that happens, go with the small-ball lineup.

Of course, maybe if Jamil had decided to take some shots in the second half, too...

This was a crap, inexcusable loss. No way to sugar coat it. It's about damn time this team pulls tjheir heads out of their asses and starts playing like their talent level dictates. Are they as good as last year?? No. But they are more talented then what they have shown thus far this year. Hate to say it, but Lockett brings the team nothing. And Jake isn't contributing either. Todd did what he needed to do, he screwed up, but made amends. Bring him back and start winning some damn ball games.

This team should have one loss(Florida), they now have 3. Pathetic. The way the rest of their season goes is up to them. They can either wilt, or they can rise up and overcome it. Can't take back the two crappy losses, however.

Nice to see that Iceman is here to bring a nice, level-headed synopsis.

As far as Lockett, he was the leading rebounder and can really defend. The only reason we are complaining is because of our expectations and because of the lack of scoring from other positions. Frankly he is not one of my major concerns.

TheSultan

By the way Ice, how do you have any idea if "Todd did what he needed to do?"

Agreed. In addition, we will struggle on the road all year. You need to be a good shooting team to win on the road because most officials allow a little more contact on dribble penetration for the home team. You have to have the ability to drive and kick. There are no easy baskets on the road. You have to create offense with defense and make shots. We are not good at either.

There is not one road game we play this year that I will feel comfortable about and we could very well go 0 for the road. Mayo coming back strong, Wilson becoming more consistent and Jake Thomas becoming more comfortable are factors that could improve our chances.

I just don't believe that Blue and Cadougan will ever become the kind of shooters we need them to be to overcome packed in defenses on the road. Also Cadougan is way to careless with the ball to overcome a tough road environment. I am not trying to criticize them. They are who they are and they have helped us win many games over the years. Their stengths just don't compliment each other at all. Cadougan was great with DJO and Blue would be great with a Travis Diener type. Together they just don't give us everything we need.

There are several problems right now....but the glaring difference with this team versus the last few years is that we have ZERO leadership, we don't have that 1 guy who pulls the team together or is our go to guy....how many times this year has it seemed like we need someone to take over the game, but everyone keeps dribbling and passing it off like no one wants to be the guy to shoot it. And after last year, we all expected Jamil to take his success and build on it, but what is going on with him? 14 points in the first half, completely non-factor in the second.....big game one night, 0 points the next. Again, when he is aggressive and taking shots....he is real good....but for some reason he has been almost shy about taking the ball...I don't get it. Cadougan has been cadougan, streaks of great, but mostly bad. And if locket was ASU's leading scorer, then I guess we know how bad ASU and the PAC-10 really were because we didn't bring him in here to be our leading rebounder, thats for sure

That's not a lack of "leadership." That's a lack of ability. Simply put, this team is essentially like last years without two NBA players.
