What did they know and when did they know it?

Or when did they decide to implement the plan? There had to be a plan. I’m talking about the ESPN suits and a few college presidents within the Big East. (read Pitt and Syracuse)

The goal – corner the major college sporting events and conferences. If you don’t play at our price we will destroy you. BE voted down the first ESPN contractor offer. Who were the key players? During this latest contract negotiations were the suits from ESPN “rope a doping” the BE? The “rope a dope” theory would achieve two things – allow for more league erosion and if that happened it would make the BE less valuable to the competing networks like NBC.

What should the remaining BE schools do now? Keep the conference together and get every last cent from departing schools. Start their own network and partner with NBC or CBS. Market the hell out of basketball. Lock schools into contracts that make defections too costly. If the school president won’t sign assume they are gone and make your plans accordingly

Trust no one outside the family and I mean the immediate blood family. That said keep an eye on Fredo. (Godfather reference intended – hey we are dealing with people doing things the mob wouldn’t do.)
