This site does an overview of the top 144 college basketball teams. It notoriously underrates Marquette, seemingly every year except last when they had us 17th, so I take it with a grain of salt, but I also always check it as it does give you sort of a lowdown on a lot of programs.

They have Butler listed as the 66th best team in the country, and NIT squad and 6th in the A-10 (they made the move this year). I have a feeling this is undershooting Butler substantially this year and I fully expect them to be a tough first round opponent in Maui. Butler is ranked one spot ahead of Rutgers, whom they project 9th in the BE this year.

Here are some other opponents they've previewed thus far:

#79 UCONN: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4712

#86 Providence: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4652

#99 Seton Hall: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4549

#108 Green Bay: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4486

#110 Villanova: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4474

#141 LSU: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4286

#144 St. John's: http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/4273

Presumably, DePaul is projected as 15th in conference this year and won't be ranked.

The teams that will be above Rutgers that aren't listed yet (will be 65 or higher) are: Cincinnati, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, South Florida, and Syracuse.

Butler will be good this year. Rotnei Clarke is a huge add, their veterans gained valuable experience last year, and they have a freshman that is one of the best shooters in his class. They'll make the tournament and be one of the best teams in the A-10.

Totally agree. Clarke was a big addition. There's no way they finish 6th in the A-10.

They may finish sixth in the A-10 (SLU, UMass, St. Joe's, LaSalle, Temple, VCU, even Xavier and maybe Dayton all potential contenders), but that still may be a tourney team and more like 35-45 overall in the country.

I stand by higher than 6th.
