ESPN is reporting that sources have indicated CBS Sports Executive VP Mike Aresco will be the new Big East Commish.

Not familiar with him, but bringing in someone from CBS sports is interesting. The Big East's future hinges on the next few months tv deal.

This from ESPN. I really like the following from the article. Sounds like the Big East is in good hands going into the tv contract negotiations.

"He's handled the network's contract negotiations with the NCAA for the rights to the men's basketball tournament. He also negotiated CBS's 15-year deal with the Southeastern Conference."

His resume says he negotiated college deals for CBS including the SEC football deal and the NCAA tourney deal. Sounds like a damn good resume for what ails the BIG EAST.
