With all the talent presently playing in Milwaukee area high schools - along with the fact that we already have verbal commitments from Wilson and Burton and are hoping to also land Looney and Stone - I started wondering when was the last time MU had at least three players in the starting line up from the Milwaukee area.

The best I can come up with was the 1962-'63 team when Ron Glaser (Washington High School), Bob Hornak (Marquette High School), and Lee Borowski (Custer High School) all started for the Warriors. I may be wrong, but I think all three players started togetheer for three years along with Dave Erickson from Minnesota.

It's certainly possible there was a more recent team that had three Milwaukee kids starting, but I can't think of any. In fact, the closest I could come was the teams with Jimmy Mac and Key.

Anyone know of any more recent team than the '62-'63 team?

If not, and if we can get a commitment from Looney and/or Stone, then it's possible we can have three (maybe even four) starters in a few years from Milwaukee area high school, the first time in a half century that could happen.

Go get 'em, Buzz!

Not sure about the starting lineup, but the 1987-88 squad featured Pat Foley (MUHS) Tony Smith (Tosa East) and Trevor Powell (Washington)

Do not count out McKay PW, as I could see him starting as a senior after Wilson and Gardner graduate. A line-up of Wilson, Burton, McKay, Steve Taylor and another guard is fairly probable IMO.

I don't think Foley ever started. In fact, I'm pretty certain he got little playing time, but that's quite a memory you have. Wow.

Good point. I didn't even think of McKay.

Foley started his senior year and did very well. He did a little freshman year, disappeared soph and junior years and came on really strong his senior year.

Did Shannon Smith ever start with Damon Key and Jim McIlvaine? Is Racine considered part of the Milwaukee area?
