So far I'm in the Budenholzer camp.
If Doc Rivers becomes available, I could be interested from a MU fan perspective.

I am in the Budenholzer camp as well. What I would really like is the Bucks ownership group to consolidate. I.E. Buy each other out so there is one majority owner.

What names would do something for you? I like Budenholzer because he has developed some guys like Taurean Prince, Bazemore, etc who are kind of in the mold of a Tony Snell and runs a motion offense with a decent defense. Sounds like he may take a year off now though since he is getting paid by the Hawks and they have a clause where they can recoup money if he signs a new deal. Guys like Korver and Hardaway rave about him.
Blatt has had a lot of success developing young players on the international league and apparently runs a motion offense and has a good defense.
Guys like Monty Williams and Steve Clifford do nothing for me.
I am not interested in an up and coming assistant.
I have always thought that Rivers would be a good fit for the Bucks, but he seems Kidd like with his meddling in the front office.

Budenholzer wouldn't be bad. Is there some D-League guy? How about Jerry Stackhouse. Or Sam Cassell.

I remember hearing/reading that his peers thought he would make a great head coach one day. Just don't think he is being considered. Stackhouse even played a season in Milwaukee (2010).

Your guess is as good as mine. There is obviously the New York connection. He works for ESPN/ABC through the NBA Finals, with Mike Breen and Mark Jackson, but that wouldn't prevent him from interviewing for coaching positions. Haven't seen his name mentioned recently with the Bucks.

I think he meant the brother that just was canned from Detroit.
Personally, I don't want either.

Budenholzer or Rivers (who is still under contract).

It will be interesting to see how this roster shakes out, and plays with hopefully a new offensive and defensive style next year.

Got it, thanks for clarifying. It was mentioned that Budenholzer might sit out a year. Can't imagine him turning down the job if offered by the Bucks. Along with Budenholzer, I get the sense that Monty Williams and David Blatt are the top candidates. I hope they can lock up Budenholzer in the next week or so.

Bucks can't really take a chance with this pick. Have a short window of a few years to get something done before Giannis becomes a FA.
That will include adding some free agents. That's why I'm hoping for a NBA coach with some history of success, like Budenholzer.

Ha. I didn't want to say anything. Seems like a PR move by the Bucks (interviewing a woman for HC) while helping Becky's career (she can say she was a candidate for the Bucks HC job).

IMO, the Bucks need a coach with more experience.

Uh oh......Toronto may be targeting Budenholzer. Toronto could never get past Cleveland. I think Casey is a good coach. He also was an assistant to George Karl on those 90's Supersonics teams with Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp.

Toronto is an awesome city, but strictly from a b-ball standpoint, the Bucks gig is a better job IMO and the new facilities doesn't hurt.

I'd be leery of taking that Toronto job.

I think the next coach, who ever it is, will be very hard pressed to be the #1 seed in the East, win 60 games, and make the Eastern Conference Finals. Not sure they have any cap room, or even young stars you expect to take a big leap.

Philly, Boston, Milwaukee, Cleveland (if Lebron stays) all should improve, while Toronto may be hard pressed to improve on #1 seed, best record in franchise history, etc.

Like both of you MUfans (MUfansince72 and MUfan2003), I agree I think they got this right as Budenholzer was my first choice too.

Now, what to do about the roster. Can Budenholzer make this roster work, or will they do some changing?

Good summary. Bledsoe's situation is interesting. Expiring deal at $15 million. Could the Bucks draft a PG (Brunson, Holiday, Carr), move Brogdon back into the starting lineup and trade Bledsoe to a rebuilding team (looking for expiring contracts) for other pieces?

IIRC, Teletovic's remaining cap hit could be lifted if he retired and it qualified as a medical retirement. Quite possible they stay fairly status quo (draft pick and mid-level exception) and do more in the summer of 2019.

Perfect choice for the job. COY back in 2015. Popovich tree, highly sought after for years in SA. Mixes a solid foundation of X's and O's with being a personable player's coach.

Offensive scheme varies to players strengths off the Triangle. He will run the Triangle but add wrinkles to take advantage of players strengths. There will be a lot of ball movement. So movement away from the ball will be a must. I can see Giannis in the post within the Triangle. I can also see Parker in the same spot on the block, they can be interchangeable in the half court. Definitely going to need to add weak side shooters to the roster, Middleton is one. Bledsoe doesn't seem to have a reputation as a sniper, which is something you need to create that spacing for the triangle.

I can see Budenholzer wanting Parker back, the ability to score from any where on the floor will be huge for his offense. Bledsoe might be moved for a couple lesser pieces, but would be perfect fits.

If the Bucks don't win with Bud, will they ever?

The same question Packer fans were wondering in the 70's and 80's. Then Bob Harlan brings in Ron Wolf, who hires Mike Holmgren and trades for Brett Favre. Giannis is a bona fide superstar, he will likely finish top 5 in MVP voting at age 23. There is excitement with the new arena and entertainment district.....along with other development in the arena. I think they got the right coach, need to make good decisions in personnel and not strike out on first round draft picks (i.e. Vaughn and quite possibly Wilson).
