Did anyone know that was coming? Jimmy Smits narrated it - beyond his b-ball bio much about his life in Puerto Rico. Some nice video from the '77 FF. About a 5 minute discussion about him with the guys. Pretty cool.

Gotta love YouTube.

New York Public School championship game from 1973. Butch Lee's junior year. Steve Sheppard (Maryland) is on the team with Butch and Haaren High School is represented by Lynbert "Cheese" Johnson who played at Wichita State. I think Johnson must have been a sophomore and had some interest from Marquette.

That was totally cool especially when Kenny was talking about Butch as his idol. We were so fortunate. Watched the '77 Championship again last night--still get nervous. We are.....

That was a really nice piece. So many great memories. Butch was very humble in that piece. He would take over a game. I loved watching him play.

Butch was the player of the game in one of those high school all-star games that were precursors to the McDonald's AA game - Dapper Dan maybe or the one in MD? In any event Moses Malone was in that game as well.

People say he was a bust in the NBA, but for his knee injury I think he could have been more than decent - averaged 10 points a game his rookie year with the Hawks. And there was that connection to that MU cheerleader, but that is neither here nor there...

I believe that was the game Al was booed at.

I recall the booing, but weren't we all booing the refs as well as raining rolls of toilet paper on them. Don't remember Al getting booed.

Was a depressing walk back to the dorms and bars - from 16-3 to 16-6 (all at home) in short order.

Wish that USA vs. Puerto Rico game was on YouTube - never saw it.

I tried to find over the weekend and couldn't find it all. Was hoping it would pop up on Twitter from MU.

Yes, for sure. I remember that game well. The fans were booing the refs and it was crazy when Al got tossed. Crowd was really hostile toward the refs. I guess it was only fitting that Al get tossed on his final game in Milwaukee.

From famine to feast after those three straight losses at home - 4 wins on the the road after that 3 game losing streak and up at half-time at Michigan when the selection committee included MU in the tourney. The rest is history.

Last 10 games of that season away from home. Always thought that was weird that they ended the regular season with 5 games on the road.
