Seton Hall’s Carrington, Marquette’s Howard Earn MBB Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – Seton Hall junior guard Khadeen Carrington has been tabbed BIG EAST Player of the Week and Marquette guard Markus Howard has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Carrington’s week included a 41-point effort in a win against Creighton and Howard scored 34 points in a victory over Xavier.


BIG EAST Player of the Week
Khadeen Carrington, Seton Hall, G, Jr.
Carrington averaged 31.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week. The junior scored 41 points, including Seton Hall’s last 10 points of the game in the final 41 seconds, in an 87-81 win against Creighton. The 41-point total is the highest individual tally by a BIG EAST player in any game this season. Carrington followed that performance with 22 points in a 92-70 loss to Villanova. For the season, he is averaging 17.8 points per game.


BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

Markus Howard, Marquette, G, Fr.
Howard scored 34 points and tied the BIG EAST freshman 3-point record by connecting on nine shots from beyond the arc in an 83-61 victory against Xavier. Howard also had four rebounds and three assists. He shot 9-of-12 from 3-point range and 11-of-18 from the field. Howard is averaging 12.8 points this season and ranks first in the BIG EAST in 3-point shooting, making 53.7 percent.


BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kelan Martin, Butler, F, Jr.
Averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Shot 50 percent from the field and 3-point range. Had 19 points and nine boards in a 110-86 win over St. John’s.

Marcus Foster, Creighton, G, Jr.
Averaged 29.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and a 5.5 assists in a 1-1 week. Had a career-high 35 points in an 87-70 win versus Georgetown.

Rodney Bullock, Providence, F, Jr.
Posted 16 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots in a 75-63 victory against Xavier.

Angel Delgado, Seton Hall, F, Jr.
Posted his 20th and 21st double-doubles of the season, while averaging 18.0 points and 14.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Had 17 points and 17 rebounds in an 87-81 win against Creighton.

Jalen Brunson, Villanova, G, So.
In a 2-0 week, averaged 20.0 points and 7.0 assists. Shot 7-of-7 from the floor and posted 22 points and a career-high 10 assists in a 92-70 win at Seton Hall. Shot 73.3 percent from the floor.
