The BET is upon us. Need to win tonight to shore up NIT bid muchless NCAA hopes. One at a time.

Yeah, he always looks like a Mafia guy. Hardly seems like a BB guy.

How was a foul not called on Cheatham's hoop? He got hit in the back of the head.

MU on fire - Jajuan playing at another level. MU getting hacked at hole with few calls, though they're still already in bonus and not even half way through first.

Are we sure Mullin was an upgrade from Lavin? I have no idea what St. John's is trying to do on offense.

Henry having a rough game. So obvious that he needs to come back for another year.

You look closely though and he ends the half with 10 points on 4-5 shooting with 6 rebounds

The thing is, many of his games this year are quiet, not sexy. After a game you often say, 'Henry had 15 rebounds? Hmm.'

He is quiet but extremely productive.

This looks like a team that doesn't want this to be its last game..great effort in first half. Let's keep it going!

Need to one out strong in the 2nd half and not give St. John's any momentum

Seeing the sights around The Big Apple, I love seeing all of the Big East stuff on the jumbo trons, marquis etc. With the Big 10 and ACC coming in the next two years, I hope the Big East is paying big this weekend to secure all of the ad space for next two years

JJ has really developed under Wojo. Had Buzz stayed, he was gone.

This is what the NCAA wanted right? Both sides are just trying to create contact. That's it. Dull. Dull. Dull.

They need to get rid of Cahill and hire a new roster of officials for next year. Tonight was as bad as I have ever seen. James Breeding and Tim Clougherty seemed to want to enforce a new touch foul rule. All of MSG was laughing at those clowns.

I'd love to be rid of Cahill. But after watching other conferences, the refs are bad all over. Until the NCAA reforms things, it'll continue to be bad.

That's the problem - they just did "reform things"!

That's the problem - they just did "reform things"!

The edicts about "freedom of movement?" That's hardly reform.

I just wish there was more control over officiating. They work too many games, and have zero accountability. The only leverage the NCAA has over these guys is handing out Tournament assignments.

For the third or fourth year running, I've watched twice as much NBA ball than college. And part of that has to do with the officiating. At least in the NBA, there's a flow to it, and the calls are consistent.

warriorfan4life
03-10-2016, 12:06 AM
I'd have no problem if college basketball officials fully committed to cracking down on the hand checks and all of the bumping of cutters. However, there is no consistency with the calls and you can never predict the officiating from game to game. Some nights it is football on the hardwood and other nights (like tonight) it's a foul if you breathe on the opposing player.

By the way, what a game for JJ. Coming off the bench for 28 minutes, he contributed 23 points including 8-8 free throws, five rebounds, four assists and five steals. Henry deservedly gets the player of the game, but JJ was fantastic too. It's amazing to see his progress since last year.

I'm glad the commentators said how awful that game to watch was because of the fouls. 1 commentator was worried they would get in trouble by the Big East or Fox and tried to soften it a bit, but the other was Critical.

As I was watching the game and a foul being called back and forth. I was thinking if this was the way the refs were going to call things maybe WOJO should switch to Zone? Did anyone think that?

21rooster
03-10-2016, 07:58 AM
He tried - and they still got whistled on the first zone possession. Nothing worked. It's so strange - the first ten minutes of the game were called normal, and I remember the commentators talking about the great flow of the game. It wasn't as though things were getting chippy at all. Then suddenly the refs decided it was time to get whistle-happy. Fortunately, our guys knew what to do in that situation.

Agree - the game had a Twilight Zone vibe about it. Both coaching staffs, both fan bases, the announcers and hopefully Stu Jackson sitting court side, were visually taken aback by the whole thing. Good for Gus that he spoke out about it.

I think Jay Bilas, although very bright and capable, can be a bit too preachy for my taste, but I would have loved to have him in the booth with Raf and Gus.

It will be interesting to see how the games go today.
