Georgetown really struggling. Providence up by 12 and could be up by 18 if they had made some chippys.

I have no idea who I should be cheering for. Goal #1 in mind for me is getting to 6th in conference and avoiding the first day of the BET. With that in mind, I still have no idea.

Xavier over Butler is the only one that I'm certain I should be rooting for.

I'm pulling for Butler. The Bulldogs need a bigtime home win as they are really in the bubble.

Depends what the goals are I think. Butler winning is certainly better for the conference. Xavier winning is better for Marquette's (bleak) NCAA hopes.

How does Xavier beating Butler, help Marquette's NCAA chances?

This isn't pro sports. Conference standings don't mean anything in terms of ncaa bids. It's the best 36 at-large bids. Plus, one of few better wins for Marquette is against Butler. Plus, MU still has to play at Butler.

conference standings help us in the sense that if we can sneak into that top 6 it's one less obstacle for a young team to trip on. At that point we only need 2 wins as both would be over quality teams. After watching this squad lose to DePaul this season and struggle with some teams they shouldn't have every game is a scary one.

I am in the camp that says a butler win helps mu. need to have more big victories with us taking care of business on our end. butler win i think helps us. 2 of 3 against creighton. sweep those and get on the other side of creighton and then hopefully watch georgetown also get on the other side of us. Our chances are not great, but the next three are winnable, but both tough games against creighton. Then would need to take 2 of last three with two of those being at home. tall task, but doable

Conference standings, and the fact that Butler would be a team that we'd be competing with for a spot.

Marquette needs to win just to get into talk for the NIT. There looking at the Vegas16.

Absolutely true, but until we get our 9th conference loss I'm going to be cheering for anything that increases Marquette's chances for the tournament.

The randomness of 3 point shooting. Happens to every team....'not just MU.

trying to gauge my need to root for bucky or not. i am not as die hard with rooting against them as others as i am all about what helps mu. dont love seeing them win but if it helps mu then so be it. with that said, how much does a badger win over #2 team affect our rpi given our victory over them.

Not well played in the first half, but a tie anyway.

Doesn't help, our RPI that much but the way UW is playing they could end up being a top 50 road win for us.

I don't think we are going to be close enough for it to matter.

You got to hand it to Gard....he has turned there season around. Early in the season they didn't guard anyone.....now they are winning ugly......and wining ugly is better then losing pretty.

Ps UW's RPI is now 40..... But ours is 101.

Is something going on with JJ health wise? Last 2 games he has not hustled at all as far as I could see. He looked completely winded in both games. Maybe why he didn't see too many minutes in the 2nd half. I also believe something has to be going on with Duane Wilson physically. Not the same player he was last season as far as his athleticism is concerned.

JJ allowed consecutive lay ups at the beginning of the second half. Wojo pulled him and was PO'd.

Duane's loss of athleticism is one of the great mysteries of the season. I wonder if it has something to do with his foot injury? Otherwise I'm at a loss......be used to be so explosive in high school. Quick, fast and great hops.....now he isn't overly quick and can't jump.

Well, I'm pretty used to seeing that sh!t from JJ. That's pretty much what he does every game defensively. These last 2 games as he runs back down the court, it looks like he is on his last breath. And if JJ ever gets on the ground going after a loose ball, I may take my final breath!

I think you are on the right track, as he looks to be playing with some kind of undisclosed injury. He looked much quicker and more explosive last season, and that dunk miss would not have happened last year. We can probably afford for one of Duane or JJ to have off nights, but not both of them and expect to beat a decent team.

Yes, it is rather noticeable.
