Henry Ellenson Claims League Honor For Fourth Time

11th double-double highlighted impressive week

Milwaukee – BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Year and All-America candidate Henry Ellenson has been named the league’s newcomer of the week for the fourth time this season, the conference office announced Monday morning.

Ellenson averaged 13.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks per game in outings against DePaul and St. John’s last week. His efforts were highlighted by his 11th double-double of the season against the Red Storm, when he finished with 16 points and a career-best 18 boards (MU single-game BIG EAST record).

The Rice Lake, Wisconsin, native is one of the top performing freshmen in the nation. He is ranked third in rebounding (9.9 rpg., first in BIG EAST) nationally among first-year players and 15th in scoring (15.7 ppg., fifth in BIG EAST). His 11 double-doubles are the ninth most in college basketball (most in BIG EAST) and is the second-highest total by a freshman.

Ellenson is currently ranked among the league leaders in six different categories (scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds and minutes per game).
