I posted this on Doddsy's board about the flagrant on Traci. I am pissed, obviously. There were too many 4 point swings in the second half. I am sick of people giving officials a pass:

That was the height of officiating arrogance. It was the wrong call. No reason to stretch to find a flagrant foul but that is exactly what they did. Two guys were tied up and landed awkwardly. That is a foul and nothing more. It may cost Traci Carter the Xavier game (not sure). That call does give us insight into the thinking of officials. I am a frequent critic of college officials primarily based on incompetence and arrogance. That video review and subsequent call is emblematic of all that is wrong with college hoops officials. I honestly think John Cahill has to go if the current state of BIG EAST officiating is his responsibility. He employs guys like Corbett and Anderson and Breeding and Greene etc. etc. I think it is fair to say there is a lot lacking if those are the best in the business. I get the feeling that Cahill (who runs like a girl) hires his buddies as he cannot possibly base his choices on competence. They need to elevate young guys like Paul Szelc and get rid of the arrogant "hey look at me" old guard .

The announcers said repeatedly, "It's obvious that wasn't intentional, this will just result in Xavier's ball." And then he gets a flagrant 1. Couldn't believe it.

Is it possible to retroactively take away a Flagrant? I think the league office reviews them in the NBA or a red card in soccer.
