Did some of the comments in this article rub anybody else the wrong way? Or am I just too defensive??

Little old Catholic school that can't compete with football money lands stud recruit because of his brother.

Exactly.

"The Big East is a viable, basketball-first alternative for small, Catholic schools such as Marquette". Viable alternative? Currently #3 in conference RPI, 3 Top 10 teams. She makes it sound like it's no better than the Patriot League.

It's definitely reaching a bit, as that felt like ESPN/O'Neil begrudgingly writing about a star that happened to play for a Big East school.

Begrudgingly I agree with you. The season starts in November, but all anybody cares about is what happens in March.

"Why did Ellenson go to Marquette? Oh right, because of his brother. That makes sense now." <---------- entire point of that article.

Probably pretty accurate though. Do people think HE comes here without Wally?

Ugh. Why do we always come off so damn oversensitive? It was a very nice article.

No, but he also wouldn't have come here if Marquette was a non-entity. He didn't join his brother Ellwood in school after all.

Why does it need to be said by Dani in the writing?

I agree with you. Dani is a terrible writer. I gave up on anyone at that site. Pointless things were said in her piece.

The article doesn't imply that he would have.

Problem I have is that Butler, Xavier, Villanova, Georgetown, MU have all made significant noise in March and have rich traditions. Analyzing these schools should go beyond just the last 2-3 years (even though I get that it correlates with when the new 10 team Conference started). Hopefully the 3rd year is the charm in terms of March results.

Wasn't Xavier in the Sweet 16 last year.

Yes. Butler, Georgetown, Villanova each won their first game.

Another article.....again a mention that people might not know much about Ellenson because he is playing for a " borderline NCAA tournament team in the Big East" . http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/25422645/nba-draft-breakdown-marquettes-henry-ellenson-has-been-impressive

There's nothing inaccurate in that. It's what we are. He's getting a lot of press now that we've won a few games. I'm sure if he starts off the Big East well, he will get much more. CBS has them as the number 2 freshman.
